Hope you are all doing well! It has been a little while since I have posted any new pictures- I have been incredibly busy. Thank you for being patient with me. Today I am sharing with you some photos from a wedding I was the makeup artist and hair stylist for in Moorpark, CA. The wedding was between Jennifer Lilly and Travis Conrad, an absolutely wonderful couple. The wedding took place at an absolutely gorgeous home in Moorpark which is a beautiful area.
I first met Jennifer after she found me online and decided she wanted to setup a consultation here at my studio. When we first talked she mentioned that she had originally thought about having one of her bridesmaids do her hair and makeup but wanted to hear what my thoughts were on the matter. She mentioned that she wanted to alleviate stress among her bridal party which I completely understand.
What I always tell people in this scenario that even though I’m biased, I believe brides should always hire a professional makeup artist for their wedding. The reality is, simply because someone knows how to do makeup doesn’t mean they truly understand what needs to be done to make someone wedding ready. There are a number of different things that need to be considered (IE length of wear, being HD camera ready, etc) that professionals in the bridal business keep top of mind that a friend wanting to do your makeup may not. My thought is you are going to look at your bridal photos for the rest of your life- why not do everything you can to make sure they are as good as possible?Also, as Jennifer very intelligently identified the reality is you don’t want to have any extra stress within your bridal party. You want things to be as easy as possible and for there not to be any sources of tension. Bridal makeup artists are used to working under pressure and can deliver the best possible results.
Trust me, if you are considering having a friend do your hair and makeup for your wedding I encourage you to reconsider. You can even give me a call (even if you aren’t in my service area) and I’d be happy to expand upon some of the points I made earlier.
Jennifer was a total sweetheart and I couldn’t be happier that I met her and had a chance to work with her. I want to thank her for making me a part of her wedding day- it was an absolute honor. Look forward to keeping in touch!
