Today I’m excited to share a few photos with you that I was the wedding makeup artist and hair stylist for from a wedding that took place October 20th in Venice, CA.
What I love about these photos and the wonderful couple, July and Andrey, who are from Moscow, Russia is that they decided to do their own thing when it came to their wedding and their nuptials. They made sure that all of the things that they are passionate about, regardless of whether or not these things are traditionally part of weddings, were somehow incorporated into their big day- as someone who has been a part of thousands of weddings and worked on thousands of brides, I must say that I definitely respect going the non-traditional route and people’s weddings being an expression of who they are.
One of the items you will see in some of the photos are chilies, which was the theme of the bride’s bouquet. Because of this Julya and I decided that we wanted the perfect combination of playing with her eye makeup color a bit to match the bouquet while still keeping it looking natural. In order to do so, I used colors in the brown family but also popped burgundy / deep brownish red colors on the eye lid. I also used black winged liner using my favorite gel liner by Laura Mercier, strip lashes in the Demi Wispies by Ardell and for her lip color we stuck with a natural, soft lip color angel food cake by NYX cosmetics with clear gloss on top.
For her skin we airbrushed Julya using Makeup Forever HD Foundation using a mix of #120 / #125, gave her light powder contour using bronzer and to top it off I used blush on the apples of the cheeks in Pale Pink by Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.
For Julya’s wedding hair I placed chunky beach waves throughout (using my NuMe 25inch wave iron), giving her relaxed yet textured movement and soft beautiful style which made the different colors in her hair really pop to go along with the headpiece she wore.
