I recently had the opportunity to do hair and makeup for models on a photo shoot for the online retailer Couture Candy. The shoot was SO much fun. I had the chance to work on a number of different models designing and creating numerous different hair and makeup looks to go with each of Couture Candy’s high-end clothing lines such as Hudson Jeans, Joe’s Jeans, Hard Tail, Ella Moss and Frankie B. Below is a quick breakdown of some the pictures that I really liked, and how we achieved each look of the looks below- the “rocker” look and the “beach” look.
Achieving The Rocker Look
To achieve this look, on the eyes we used a black eyeliner from lash line to crease. The blend was very thin and light to create a base for the other colors that were be placed on the lid. I then used a mix of dark brown and black makeup to build a dark smokey eye from lash line to crease,. I did the same under the eye, making sure to blend well to get rid of any harsh lines.
On the lashes, I used my favorite waterproof Maybelline Colossal Mascara to give the model amazing long, voluminous lashes!
On the lips I used the very soft Baby Pink lipstick by MAC to give a little color to the lips but not take away from the boldness of the eyes
Achieving The Beach Look
In my opinion, the beach look is best when you have natural glowing skin, subtle eye shadow, bronzer, and some gloss.
On this model’s skin I used some illuminating tinted moisturizer to even the skin out but with sheer coverage so that it looked extremely natural. I also used a little bit of translucent powder on her chin and forehead.
On her eyes, I used a color called bronzed gold which is a light brownish gold with a bit of shimmer in to add some color but also maintain a natural look on the eye lid. I then used a little bit of Bobbi Brown Ultra Defined Mascara in black on the lashes to give the eyes a pop.On her lips, I just used some cool refreshing lip balm.
